Joy Robinson

There are no words to truly express how grateful I am for being selected as a recipient of the VAW/VRC Merit scholarship through the Wings Over America Foundation. I am thankful that I had the opportunity to have been eligible to apply for this award due to my father’s honorable service in the United States Navy. I have worked extremely hard throughout my primary and secondary school years and with this scholarship award I will be able to continue to do so in the fall of 2021 with significantly less financial burden on me and my parents. I will be majoring in accounting as I have always had a passion for mathematics. Additionally, in my junior year of high school, I was fascinated with all the concepts I learned in my Advanced Placement (AP) Macroeconomics course. As a student going to a university six hours away from home, this scholarship will allow me to focus more on excelling academically in the classroom, rather than worrying about how my college education will be paid for by my parents or student loans.
