VVOSA Scholarship Program

The VAW / VRC Memorial and Merit Scholarship Fund awards educational opportunities to the dependents of the VAW / VRC community.

The Memorial Scholarship grants full undergraduate education to honor those children who have lost a parent in an aviation mishap while assigned to a VAW / VRC squadron. The Merit Scholarship provides annual, merit-based scholarships and is open to all dependents of those who have served in a VAW / VRC squadron.

The Memorial Scholarship has awarded $340,000 to children of the community’s fallen aviators.

Memorial Scholarship

The primary mission of VVOSA is to promote and support the VAW / VRC Memorial Scholarship Fund. The Memorial Scholarship Fund supports the education for the children of our fallen aviators who lost their lives in an aviation mishap while in the service of our E2/C2 communities.

Provides 100% of the average annual cost of college for each child remaining of our lost community members.

For children of the fallen aviators who have lost their lives in an aviation mishap serving our E-2/C-2 communities.

Remains unique to the E-2/C-2 community, as it is one of a kind, just as we like to think the same of our own community.

The Merit Scholarship is open to all dependents of those who have served in a VAW / VRC squadron.

Merit Scholarship

As a result of the tremendous generosity of our community and industry partners, we are also able to provide yearly Merit Scholarships for deserving dependents of VAW / VRC squadrons. These scholarships range in number and size annually. These scholarships were founded because together we make a family, and a family takes care of its own.

Dependents (spouses and children) of past and present service members of the VAW / VRC community are eligible to apply for this scholarship.  Service members include both officers and enlisted personnel who are serving or have served in the VAW / VRC community.

Candidates submitting applications must be graduates of an accredited high school or equivalent thereof and must plan to attend an accredited vocational or academic institution.  The scholarships are awarded solely on merit.  Applicants and recipients from previous years may reapply.  An individual may be awarded the scholarship twice.

Applicants must be pursing their FIRST undergraduate degree at a college or university or attending technical/vocational school.  Any students currently in a Reserve Officer Candidate Program (ROTC) are not eligible.  Merit scholarship awards may be applied to tuition only.

VVOSA has partnered with the Wings Over America Scholarship Foundation (WOASF) to streamline the application process for students, allowing students to draft and submit one consolidated online application that can be used for several military dependent scholarship opportunities. In addition, VVOSA votes on the amount and number of scholarships awarded each year.  Applicants may apply for the VAW / VRC merit scholarship through the WOASF website.
