Anna Heaton

An honor is very much an understatement for what being a recipient of a VAW / VRC Merit Scholarship means to me. I feel so much gratitude and humility to have been selected amongst incredible candidates.

With a father who served in the Navy and a brother who plans to follow in his footsteps, our Navy holds a very special place in my heart. I am amazed and inspired by the sacrifice and dedication men and women make to ensure the safety of our nation and the freedom of Americans. This scholarship will have a significant impact on my life because I will be constantly motivated to do everything I can with as much effort and focus as possible.

What an incredibly gift it is to be able to use my academic pursuits as a means through which I can thank those who work to keep me safe. I hope, after preparation in college, to pursue a career in which I may make even a fraction of the impact on our world that our armed forces make.
