When I heard that I heard that I had won the scholarship it lifted a huge weight off my shoulders. Next semester, I am studying abroad in Dresden, Germany and I was concerned about the increase in room and board and tuition fees would make it impossible for me to go. After winning the scholarship I know that I can go and enjoy my time in Germany without worrying about the finances as much. I was also concerned that my parents would be unable to pay for my little sister’s college. I want her to have every opportunity I have, so winning the scholarship and knowing that my parents could save the money they would have spent on me for my sister meant a lot. It is a good feeling to know that my hard work in and out of school has paid off.
