About Ashley
I am thrilled to be selected to receive a VAW/VRC Merit scholarship. Rosa Parks said, “One person can change the world.” From a young age, I was inspired by the idea that I could grow up one day and make a difference. From Being an artist to the first female President of the United States, I would spend endless hours daydreaming of possible career paths and working hard toward them. While I no longer want to be the future leader of our country, thankfully, the aspirations of my young self-have never faded away. However, the concept of money was unfamiliar to me as a child and when looking at colleges, the cost of tuition and other expenses shocked me and made me feel as though my goals were out of reach. Therefore, I am greatly humbled and honored to receive this scholarship from the VAW/VRC Officer Spouses Association because it will help me reduce the price of achieving my dreams. With it, I will be going into Auburn University as a music education major in hope of one day shaping the musical minds of generations to come. I want to show my future students the same support and opportunities that the scholarship has given me. As Aaron Shepherd said, “Maybe I can’t change the world, but I can affect the people around me; and if they, in turn, do the same and affect those around them, then, together we can change the world.”
