About Caitlin
Receiving this scholarship means so much to me. It means less financial burden on my family, as well as recognition of my potential. I am extremely grateful for the generosity and support of my academic goals. My mom recently went back to school to be a nurse. Though it is something she has wanted to do for a long time, she plans to use her nursing degree to pay for my college. With her help I won’t have to have as much student loan debt. I have watched her work incredibly hard as a nursing student, enduring stress to the point that she considered quitting. Because of her example, I know that I can do hard things. I am grateful for the support of my family and the life of service they live. Being a military family means that everyone makes sacrifices; I am grateful for this scholarship because it means less of a struggle for my parents who have given and continue to give so much. Not only does this mean less of a financial burden on my family, but it also shows that I have outside support in achieving my goals. I feel recognized and I thank you for that. I am attending James Madison University in the fall and will major in Psychology as I pursue a career in something that I am very passionate about: mental health. I am excited to being a life of service of my own and to be able to use my gifts and education to help people.
