Jenna Schimenti

Being a recipient of the 2025 VAW/VRC Merit Scholarship is a huge honor and I am very grateful. As a rising junior at the University of Miami, the scholarship will help ease the burden of tuition costs as I continue to pursue my career goal of becoming a Physician Assistant specializing in emergency medicine, dermatology, psychiatry or surgical medicine. This recognition motivates me even more to stay dedicated and strive for academic excellence. I have successfully completed all required general biology, chemistry and organic chemistry requirements and look forward to focusing on anatomy. genetics and microbiology in the school year ahead. I am also excited to gain more hands-on experience through clinical work and service opportunities in my two communities – Arlington, VA and South Miami, FL. The scholarship funds go a long way in relieving stress about college costs and allows me to focus on completing all the required science coursework and patient care volunteer hours to make my future dream of serving others come true.
