Marguerite Reed

Receiving a VAW/VRC Merit scholarship means so much to me. It means that I can serve my community in the way my parents have served my family and the communities we have been a part of. My parents instilled the importance of serving others into my values, which is why I am excited to be a teacher after graduating. I can’t wait to serve my future students and their families. I get to create a community and care for my students, while showing them the importance of problem solving and perseverance in math. These are all skills that they will hopefully take with them even after they leave my classroom. The VAW/VRC Merit Scholarship Program is helping me reach my goal of becoming an inspirational teacher to allow me to make an impact on my future students’ lives. I am so thankful for the belief and help in reaching my academic and career goals.
