About Mia
The VAW/VRC Memorial & Merit Scholarship Fund has and will continue to have a significant impact on me and my family. It has allowed me to further my education at the University of South Carolina with a degree in Biomedical Engineering. I plan to pursue a career in Anesthesiology where I will challenge myself to learn new things, collaborate with others, and help save lives every single day. My veteran father has taught me about dedication and putting others before oneself. I am excited to keep honoring his exemplification of service via my own life choices. I believe that my life choices are a perfect example for what this scholarship will allow me to accomplish. None of this would be possible without VAW/VRC. So many students leave college with astronomical debt, and in my first year alone, I have seen how debilitating debt can be to young adults and their families. My family has sacrificed so much for my future, and I am determined to do everything in my power to help in any way I am able. This scholarship will allow me to accomplish even more of my academic goals without financial stress. For this opportunity, I thank you.
