The generosity of the VAW/VRC Foundation is unmatched, and I am so grateful for the continuous efforts of its donors to help students like me. Not only does it aid me in pursuing my degree almost entirely debt-free, but it also represents a longstanding legacy that I am honored to uphold. I know I will never completely understand the sacrifices made by my father and other naval aircrewmen throughout their time in the armed forces, but by taking the step to better myself and follow my passion through a collegiate education, I can humbly pay homage to them through my work. Along with this, receiving the financial support to pursue an arts degree warms my heart because I am reminded that through theatrical performance, I can bring light and joy into someone else’s life, if even for a moment. I consider this my own little way to serve my country and the people in it, and through Wings Over America, I am encouraged to keep serving every day.
